Fall weekends are the best kind of weekends. Here's what's happening in and around South Jersey, October 16–18.

🎃 FRIDAY, OCTOBER 16

​Haunted Haddonfield Walking Tours​
7 PM · Greenfield Hall, 343 Kings Highway East, Haddonfield
Local history meets Haddonfield's best-known haunted tales on a evening walk through town. Advance tickets are required and space is limited.

​Emerald City Weekend at Longwood Gardens (Worth the Drive)
5 to 9 PM · Kennett Square, PA
Fountain Fest is back with a new Illuminated Fountain show, Journey to Oz, at 8:15 PM. There's live steel pan music in the Beer Garden from 5 to 7:45 PM, too. It's free with Gardens admission, and timed tickets are required.

🍂 SATURDAY, OCTOBER 17

​Chatsworth Cranberry Festival​
9 AM to 4 PM · Chatsworth, Pine Barrens
A South Jersey classic, with cranberries, crafts and plenty of food. It runs rain or shine, cell service is spotty, and cash is helpful.

​Haddon Township 11th Annual Music Festival​
Afternoon into evening · Haddon Avenue between Strawbridge Ave. and Cooper St.
Free. Two stages of live music, food trucks, local artisans, beer gardens and a kid zone. It's about four blocks from the Westmont PATCO station.

​Wildwoods Fall Festival​
Fox Park, Ocean Ave. between Burk and Montgomery, Wildwood
Free. If you want a day at the shore, this is a good excuse.

​Philly Coffee Festival (Worth the Drive)
23rd Street Armory, 22 S. 23rd St., Philadelphia
Sessions run 10 AM to 1 PM and 1:30 to 4:30 PM, with early entry at 9 AM. Tastings are included with admission, and kids under 13 are free with an adult.

Day two. If Saturday got away from you, Sunday works too.

Haddon Heights Farmers Market
9:30 AM to 1 PM · Station and Atlantic Avenues, Haddon Heights
Fresh fall produce and a relaxed morning stroll.

​Philly Coffee Festival (Worth the Drive)
23rd Street Armory, Philadelphia
Same sessions as Saturday.

​Emerald City Weekend at Longwood Gardens (Worth the Drive)
5 to 9 PM · Kennett Square, PA
Last night for Journey to Oz. Timed tickets required.

🍁 NOT SURE WHAT TO DO? KEEP IT EASY

Not every great fall weekend needs a ticket or a schedule. If your plans fall through, or you just want a slow one, here are a few simple ideas:

Pick up apples, cider and a pumpkin or two from a local farm stand.

Take a walk through a nearby park or trail while the leaves are changing.

Grab a coffee and wander a historic downtown like Haddonfield.

Make a big pot of soup or chili and call it a night.

Fall goes fast, so get outside for at least a little of it.
